All Weather Insulated Panels (AWIP) is advancing the performance of insulated metal panels with the introduction of InnovaCELL™, a next-generation foam technology engineered to improve thermal efficiency, fire safety and sustainability in building envelopes. 

Designed at the cellular level to meet the evolving demands of commercial and industrial construction, InnovaCELL achieves an R-value of R-8.0 per inch, making it a leading thermally efficient closed-cell insulation core. Compared with traditional polyisocyanurate boards, the technology delivers up to 40 percent greater thermal efficiency, allowing designers to achieve high-performance building envelopes. All Weather Insulated Panels has tested its InnovaCELL panels in accordance with ASTM C1363, providing U-factor data for complete assemblies, including panel joints, to ensure predictable, real-world performance. 

Fire performance is another defining feature of InnovaCELL technology. InnovaCELL is specifically formulated to achieve low smoke generation and limited flame spread under relevant test standards, setting a new benchmark for fire safety in insulated metal panels. InnovaCELL achieves a Class 1 fire rating under FM 4880, offers a one-hour fire performance rating in certain configurations and is designed with a focus on reducing smoke generation during fire exposure. In ASTM E84 testing, smoke-developed index values are up to 73 percent lower than building code requirements. 

Sustainability considerations were integrated into the technology’s development. InnovaCELL foam incorporates recycled material and features lower embodied carbon while maintaining long service life, supporting project teams working to meet both environmental and performance goals.

Dive into the must-attend sessions at the 2026 Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association Conference.

The Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association (MBCEA) is bringing together industry experts, thought leaders and innovators for a powerful lineup of education at this year’s MBCEA Conference. From economic forecasting and artificial intelligence to risk management, cash flow and workforce development, these sessions are designed to help metal building professionals strengthen their businesses and prepare for what’s ahead.

Industry outlook and economic trends

The conference will kick off with a highly anticipated keynote from economist Dr. Anirban Basu. Titled First Brood, this keynote sees Dr. Basu take a fast-paced, data-driven look at what 2026 may bring for the U.S. economy. After an exceptionally active 2025, many are asking whether momentum can continue or if economic uncertainty could signal the next recession.

Attendees will gain insight into employment trends, housing, commercial real estate, financial markets and overall economic output. Known for his engaging style, Dr. Basu delivers both clarity and perspective with a few surprises and even a laugh or two along the way.

Practical AI for construction companies

Artificial intelligence continues to reshape construction and at this year’s conference Zach Giglio will lead two sessions focused on real-world AI applications: Practical AI Applications for Construction Leaders and Teams and Proven Prompting Techniques for Construction Companies. 

These sessions aim to deliver hands-on guidance contractors can actually use. In Practical AI Applications for Construction Leaders and Teams, Zach explores how AI is already improving business development, project communication and jobsite management. Accreditation, training and workforce development

This session highlights how BIM, panelized systems and high-performance materials are reducing risk, accelerating schedules and supporting ESG goals. Responding directly to member feedback, MBCEA will host a panel of project management vendors who will demonstrate their platforms live. What to expect from this year’s international roofing expo.  

The International Roofing Expo (IRE) is the premier and largest expo dedicated to the roofing industry. Whether you’re a contractor or industry professional, IRE is the place to be! With countless education sessions, networking events and booths on the trade show floor, IRE offers unmatched opportunities.  

This year’s show begins on January 20, and we are already counting down the days! If you’re attending, make sure to stop by our booth to say hello to the Coffee Shops crew (booth can be found in the trade show lobby) as well as our industry friends, like Terial (booth #1665), A.C.T. For those still deciding whether or not to get a ticket, we sat down for an episode of Roofing Road Trips® with Brandi McElhaney, IRE show manager, and Rich Russo, IRE director, to learn why this year’s expo is a must-attend for any roofing professional!  

One of the biggest changes coming this year is the addition of a new exhibitor program! Brandi explained, “We’re very excited about our new program, IRE First Look. It's a specialized exhibitor participation program for those new to the market. So, it helps businesses new to the roofing sector, showcase their solutions through efficient, cost-effective exhibits that, while smaller than traditional booths, create a great way to get your foot in the door.” 

Additionally, this year’s show will feature an expansion of the exteriors offerings. Brandi shared, “We've doubled the size of our exteriors pavilion, which is dedicated to the exterior product categories and home improvement, windows, solar doors and siding. for 2026. We’re also partnering with SRS on a pro contractor pavilion education area that will showcase exterior products.” This dedication to building out the show’s exterior products sector comes as a response to past contractor feedback. Rick explained, “This is something that came out of one of our focus groups a couple of years ago when we asked the industry, ‘What are you looking for?’ We had some contractors come up to us and say, ‘Hey, we want to expand our roofing business, but we’re not sure how.’ So, we created the pro contractors pavilion as a space for those roofing contractors that want to expand their businesses to learn how to expand their businesses into new categories.” 

And last but not least, the IRE team has worked to make their offerings even more accessible with Spanish language support! Not only do they have their Spanish education track, but they have incorporated a tool that can translate non-Spanish offerings for Spanish-speaking professionals. Brandi explained, “We’re using Wordly. It’s a program that you basically just scan a QR code when you walk into the room and the program translates English to Spanish or vice versa. We want everyone to get the most out of the show, and this is part of making that possible.”

With hands-on training and innovative technology, AWIP’s IMPpro program advances quality and efficiency in the roofing industry. 

In an episode of MetalCast™, All Weather Insulated Panels (AWIP) Vice President of Sales Joe Paparella sat down with Heidi J. Ellsworth to discuss the company’s commitment to innovation, installer education and the future of insulated metal panels (IMPs) through its IMPpro Authorized Installer and Dealer Program.  

Joe emphasized that the program is designed to train and certify a wide range of building professionals, from roofers and erectors to general contractors and cladding specialists. “The outcome of that day of training is a five-year certification that carries with you. An individual may switch companies and carry that authorization throughout the entire five years,” Joe said. 

With training locations in California, Arkansas and Pennsylvania, AWIP ensures accessibility for participants across North America. The program’s success is reflected in its growing popularity and repeat attendance. “These classes seem to fill up pretty quickly, and we even sometimes get repeat customers,” Joe stated. “We get our customers bringing in some of their dealers, installers, different groups. I think the biggest positive feedback you can get is when you get repeat customers.” 

The company’s commitment to technology also sets it apart. Joe explained how AWIP is leading the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D design into its training and project processes. “Having the capability to work together on a single model all the way from design with our customers and us as a manufacturer and supplier of the roof and wall panels, is extremely important,” he said. “Having that early engagement to design together is going to help speed up the process through install, increase accuracy and work together with different trades.” 

As demand for energy-efficient building solutions grows, AWIP continues to expand its reach into both metal and traditional roofing applications. Joe noted that the company’s OneDek low-slope roofing system simplifies construction by combining decking and insulation in one high-performance panel. 

“It’s just simplifying the roof,” Joe said. “The more we can do to train installers on putting insulated metal panels down, the better.”

In an episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards spoke with Greg Lusty, president and CEO of All Weather Insulated Panels (AWIP), to discuss the company's groundbreaking work in manufacturing high-performance insulated metal panels (IMPs). These innovative panels are not only reshaping the roofing and siding industries with their durability and sustainability but also offering striking design flexibility.   

Custom aesthetics for any project 

While IMPs are often celebrated for their structural benefits, Greg emphasized that their visual appeal is just as important. “The panels are very customizable,” Greg noted. “From an application standpoint, there are so many things you can do with an IMP. What makes it so special is, not only do you get sustainability and performance, but you can also get aesthetics as well.” 

This versatility extends beyond the basics. Every AWIP project is made to suit specific design and performance needs.  

“With insulated metal panels, we have a very robust set of standards, but every job is made custom,” Greg shared. “You can customize the width of your product, the length of your product, what the product looks on the exterior, whether it's flat or profiled. We have a whole set of profiles for walls and roofs. We also have an endless supply of color. Really, whatever color you want on the building, you can do that.” 

Training, warranties and support 

In order to encourage more contractors to switch to IMPs, AWIP has made installation straightforward. “Roofing contractors are very skilled; it's skilled labor,” Greg stated. “What we've found is, because of the simplicity of our product, the learning curve is very short, especially if they're already doing metal roofing.” 

To further shorten that learning curve and ensure quality installations, AWIP launched IMPpro, a customer loyalty and training program designed to support and empower its contractor partners. Through a two-day, hands-on training course, AWIP provides real-world experience in working with their panels.  

This investment in contractor education is paired with robust warranties. Contractors who undergo this hands-on training are eligible for 2-year material and workmanship warranties as well as weathertight warranties for up to 20 years. 

“We're in it with the contractor. We're not going to put them on an island and expect them to just put up the product with no training,” Greg stated. “Absolutely — the product is great; the quality is great. If the installation isn't, then it's a failure. So, we're as invested as anyone to make sure that that warranty holds. Our warranties are second to none in the market.”

January 2026 might seem far away right now, but with the holiday season quickly approaching, it’ll be here before we know it! And with January comes the International Roofing Expo (IRE). This year’s IRE will be hosted from January 20–22, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada. 

If you’ve never been to IRE before, it is the place to be for roofing and exterior professionals! From an expansive trade show floor to countless education sessions, IRE will be full of learning, networking and fun! Education en Español  

This year’s show features 45 different educational sessions! Be on the lookout for an article focused on these sessions as we get closer to IRE. For now, we wanted to highlight the Spanish offerings!  

This year, one of the nine different education tracks available at IRE is designed specifically for Spanish-speaking roofing professionals. The sessions available in this track will feature incredible speakers, like Yessie Gomez (SRS), Alan Diaz (Elevate), Amparo Sancen (Latinos en Roofing) and Moises Morales (Advosy Construction).
