For contractors looking to invest in an Equipter, their financing program offers a practical way to get started without a large upfront expense. Instead of paying the full cost of the machine, you can secure your order with a $1,500 deposit and work with Equipter’s network of third-party lenders to set up a loan or lease that fits your business.

The application process is straightforward, with approvals often coming within a couple of days, allowing you to move quickly when demand is high. Monthly payments are structured to help preserve cash flow while you put the equipment to work generating revenue on jobs. With flexible terms based on your credit and business profile, financing an Equipter can make it easier to scale operations, improve efficiency on tear-offs and take on more projects without tying up all your capital upfront.

What to expect from this year’s international roofing expo.

The International Roofing Expo (IRE) is the premier and largest expo dedicated to the roofing industry. Whether you’re a contractor or industry professional, IRE is the place to be! With countless education sessions, networking events and booths on the trade show floor, IRE offers unmatched opportunities.

This year’s show begins on January 20, and we are already counting down the days! If you’re attending, make sure to stop by our booth to say hello to the Coffee Shops crew (booth can be found in the trade show lobby) as well as our industry friends, like Terial (booth #1665), A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply (booth #2131), Equipter (booth #4231), All Weather Insulated Panels (booth #1601) and Latinos En Roofing (booth #5461). For those still deciding whether or not to get a ticket, we sat down for an episode of Roofing Road Trips® with Brandi McElhaney, IRE show manager, and Rich Russo, IRE director, to learn why this year’s expo is a must-attend for any roofing professional!

One of the biggest changes coming this year is the addition of a new exhibitor program! Brandi explained, “We’re very excited about our new program, IRE First Look. It's a specialized exhibitor participation program for those new to the market. So, it helps businesses new to the roofing sector, showcase their solutions through efficient, cost-effective exhibits that, while smaller than traditional booths, create a great way to get your foot in the door.”

Additionally, this year’s show will feature an expansion of the exteriors offerings. Brandi shared, “We've doubled the size of our exteriors pavilion, which is dedicated to the exterior product categories and home improvement, windows, solar doors and siding. for 2026. We’re also partnering with SRS on a pro contractor pavilion education area that will showcase exterior products.” This dedication to building out the show’s exterior products sector comes as a response to past contractor feedback. Rick explained, “This is something that came out of one of our focus groups a couple of years ago when we asked the industry, ‘What are you looking for?’ We had some contractors come up to us and say, ‘Hey, we want to expand our roofing business, but we’re not sure how.’ So, we created the pro contractors pavilion as a space for those roofing contractors that want to expand their businesses to learn how to expand their businesses into new categories.”

And last but not least, the IRE team has worked to make their offerings even more accessible with Spanish language support! Not only do they have their Spanish education track, but they have incorporated a tool that can translate non-Spanish offerings for Spanish-speaking professionals. Brandi explained, “We’re using Wordly. It’s a program that you basically just scan a QR code when you walk into the room and the program translates English to Spanish or vice versa. We want everyone to get the most out of the show, and this is part of making that possible.”

Get ready for three days full of roofing education, networking and innovation.

January 2026 might seem far away right now, but with the holiday season quickly approaching, it’ll be here before we know it! And with January comes the International Roofing Expo (IRE). This year’s IRE will be hosted from January 20–22, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada.

If you’ve never been to IRE before, it is the place to be for roofing and exterior professionals! From an expansive trade show floor to countless education sessions, IRE will be full of learning, networking and fun! The Coffee Shops™ crew will be there hosting our LIVE soundstage sponsored by our friends at SRS Distribution in the lobby, so make sure to stop by, say hi and see what’s happening.

Education en Español

Learn how investing in the right equipment helps you retain employees and grow your business.

In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards met up with Sam Beiler from Equipter, John Kenney from Cotney Consulting Group and Jason Reisman of Eustis Roofing to talk about the role of equipment in growing your company. Sam grew up in the Equipter world as his dad started the business in the early 2000s with their “flagship product, the self-propelled drivable dumpster called the Equipter 4000 today.” Jason is the CEO of Eustis Roofing and also grew up in the industry. Last but certainly not least, John is the current CEO of Cotney and has over 45 years of experience as a contractor prior to his current consulting position.

John first shared a bit of larger context to Jason’s experience, noting that labor retention is harder than ever today. He explained, “Depending on the part of country you're in, it is a two to three retirement ratio to every one person coming into the industry.” The only way to address this is to encourage more young people to join the industry, something that can be challenging. He pointed to three main factors in attracting people to your company: safety, quality and productivity.

These three factors are all centered around the experience of work, something that Sam has thought a lot about as an equipment manufacturer. He explained, “We have to remember we're humans, and we like to do things and we don't like to do things. At Equipter, we look at it from the perspective of ‘how many of the negative experiences from the job site as a whole can we eliminate?’” One of the worst parts that Sam’s dad found in his time as a contractor was the hard manual labor of moving debris off a roof and keeping the surrounding area clean. And so Equipter was born, with the ability to rise to the level of the roof and move around the jobsite.

This has greatly improved the experience of working on a job site, something Jason has seen firsthand. He explained, "If your employees see that you're willing to invest in equipment for their future or their safety or the production side of it, they're going to want to work for you.” Not only does investing in machines like Equipter make the job easier and more efficient for your crews, but it also keeps your homeowners happy as the job site is cleaner and cleared out faster.

Learn how Equipter is helping contractors make sure they are finding the right tool for their project needs.

While at the 2024 International Roofing Expo, The Coffee Shops crew member Karen Edwards stopped by the Equipter booth to talk to Dave Beiler about their product line. Equipter specializes in manufacturing adaptable equipment made for roofers by roofers. They discussed the Equipter 4000, an easily drivable and maneuverable trailer that helps contractors save time on site and presents the most professional face to clients.

Dave shared, “It's somewhat become the standard in roofing and because of how efficient it makes your crews. It also makes them safer and homeowners love it because it’s low impact and protects their landscape.” Dave explained how this incredible product came to be, “My dad, Aaron, was the original inventor of our Equipter 4000 trailer. He started a roofing business in 1987 and developed it out of the necessity for better equipment.”

And the company has not slowed down since! They have been listening to contractors about what they need and are coming out with the Equipter 7000 in 2025. This is another roofing trailer, but it has some new exciting features. Dave explained, “It's towable and it's also drivable. It can lift up to about 25 ft, which is quite a bit more reach than the 4000 and the other cool feature of the 7000 is that you can interchange the box for forks.” All these innovations and improvements are based on the feedback Equipter has heard from contractors.

Beyond using their feedback as guidance, Equipter serves contractors by making sure their products are accessible. For example, the 4000 has long been available for rental or for purchase. Dave explained why they did this, “We want people to get it on a job for a week or two, or even three to four weeks, and try using it on multiple job sites to see what it'll do and if you like it. We want them to have easy access to it.” This is a strategy they plan to continue with the 7000, so that contractors can be sure they’re getting a tool that will work for them.

Before you rent a shingle lift for your next roof replacement, consider the additional capabilities of the Equipter 4000 to ensure the best value for your money.

Hoisting shingles manually up a ladder before starting a new job can be incredibly dangerous for contractors and lead to potential damage of the roofing materials during transport. Renting a shingle lift improves safety on the job, is more efficient and less expensive than the physical chore of moving bundle by bundle.

Equipter stresses the ability to capture debris and leave a jobsite clean when renting an Equipter 4000, but contractors often overlook its ability to serve as a lift for roofing materials at the beginning of a project. Learn more about each tool and choose the right rental for your next roofing project.

What is a shingle lift?

A shingle lift rental can particularly streamline the roofing process. Sometimes also called a shingle hoist, this ladder lift for shingles is tailored to elevate having to manually lift heavy shingle bundles along a specially designed ladder mechanism, adding control and stability to the process of moving shingles to the roof. The ladder lift also adheres to safety regulations, lending a layer of protection to the workers and the property. Diving into shingle lift rentals reveals several cost implications. While the rental rates can widely vary depending on locality, companies and rental durations, one can expect to spend a fraction of the cost renting a lift than by purchasing the entire equipment. It ultimately offers excellent value for money considering the magnitude of comfort, efficiency and safety it brings to the table.

How is an Equipter 4000 like a shingle lift and how does it differ?

The Equipter 4000 is a towable, drivable dumpster that can be positioned on a roofing jobsite, which then can lift its 4.1 cubic-yard box to the roofline to catch debris or deliver roofing tools and materials including shingle bundles. In situations where supply houses cannot deliver shingles to a job site or to a rooftop, the Equipter 4000 can be used to pick up and transport shingle bundles to anywhere you need them to go. Where a shingle lift delivers a bundle at a time with its lift system, the Equipter 4000 can lift 4,000 pounds of material to the rooftop in one trip, thereby speeding up the shingle delivery process on larger roofing jobs.

Comparing renting a shingle lift to renting an Equipter 4000

Shingle lift rental rates vary based on the duration you'll need the lift, the lift type and the location of the rental company. If you are looking to rent a shingle lift, it would be wise to compare prices between several local companies to ensure that you receive the best value for your money. With shingle lifts primarily tackling only one aspect of a roofing job, the comparative price of renting an Equipter 4000, which may be less than you think, makes renting an Equipter a much better prospect. Moreover, the Equipter 4000 has been trusted by roofing professionals for twenty years and there is only one make or the Equipter, ensuring quality with every rental. The Equipter 4000 is incredibly easy to transport, much easier than transporting a rented shingle lift. Simply hitch the Equipter 4000 to your truck, disengage the Equipter’s axle system with a lever and go.

The Equipter 4000 is available to rent at over 400 rental locations across the United States and Canada. You can search for the closest rental location using our interactive rental map.

Help homeowners determine the difference between roof repairs and a full roof replacement after leaks or weather events. Save them time and money when you invest in the right tools for the job.

Homeowners often find themselves hesitant to commit to a full roof replacement, especially when faced with unexpected leaks or uninsured weather damage, which can result in unforeseen costs. As a contractor, it can be daunting to navigate roof replacement decisions with potential customers when they would rather repair their roof instead of opting for a complete replacement. Equipter can be a valuable resource for your company to help customers save money in labor. Help them assess whether their roof is salvageable through repair and if investing in such repairs is a prudent long-term choice.

There are a few scenarios in which a roof replacement makes sense. If the repair is minor and localized to a specific area of a roof, repair may be the way to go. Patching leaks, sealing flashing, replacing shingles or tiles that have been damaged, and mitigating small areas of rot may make sense depending on the severity of the damage. Roof repair can extend the lifespan of a roof and homeowners that are looking to postpone a larger job may find a benefit in repairs. It is a short-term solution that can buy time.

There are many situations where a damaged roof cannot be effectively repaired and should be replaced. Extensive, widespread damage from hailstorms or windstorms that have punctured the roof or created other structural damage should be replaced. Homeowners should review their home insurance policy to see if this kind of damage is covered by their plan. Any issues that affect the structural integrity of a roof should steer a homeowner toward a full roof replacement. Repair cannot address deteriorating rafters, extensive leaks, or rot. Some building codes and local ordinances may require roof replacement, particularly if the damage poses a hazard. A professional roofing contractor will be able to best assess damage and the condition that your roof is in and will make recommendations based on a roof inspection.

When thinking about roof repair versus roof replacement, a homeowner should consider the long-term financial benefit or a total roof replacement. Cumulative repair costs can add up and continually deferring a new roof by paying for multiple repairs can become a money sink. Replacing your roof will increase your home’s value and a contractor who can provide an attractive replacement can greatly increase resale value. Finally, old roofs lack energy-efficient designs. Replacing an old roof can lead to reduced utility bills and long-term savings.

The Equipter 4000 is a self-propelled trailer that is used to catch debris from roofing jobs. Whether you choose to repair or replace a roof, investing in the Equipter is a smart decision. The Equipter can limit the amount of time that crews need on the roof and ensure clean properties free of nails, shingles and other materials.

The Equipter 4000 stands out among the crowd of tilt and dump trailers because of its versatility.

The Equipter 4000 is a tilt and dump trailer designed to work for you. Trailers are crucial to keeping things organized and clean on a job site. But why invest in a specific roofing trailer? It may cost slightly more money than the traditional tilt and dump trailers on the market, but you are going to get your money’s worth.

Tilt trailers, also known as tilt bed trailers and tilting trailers, are specialized trailers where the bed can incline for easily loading and unloading specialized equipment or other cargo. Tilt trailers come in many different sizes and many different price points, from $3,000 for simple single axle trailers to over $10,000 for heavy duty deck trailers. Tilt trailers are especially useful for transporting heavy objects with low clearance, like cars, motorcycles or riding mowers. Although tilt trailers are versatile in the type of equipment they can haul, they really only do one thing and are not comparable to the Equipter 4000’s range of functions. Tilt trailers require a vehicle to tow them in order to move whereas the self-driving Equipter 4000 can be started up and positioned into the place where it is needed. Some tilt trailers have short sides but are not suitable for hauling debris in the way that debris can be transported the Equipter 4000’s enclosed box.

Dump trailers are designed to haul loose materials such as debris, sand and dirt and deposit its contents with a hydraulic dump function and tailgate. A 5x10 dump trailer, able to carry roughly the same payload as an Equipter 4000, is typically within the $5,000 to $8,000 range. Yet again, an inherent drawback to dump trailers is that they cannot be moved once they are at a job site, the debris must be moved to or away from them with manual labor. The Equipter 4000 can drive materials where they need to go. One of the Equipter 4000’s key features is its ability to lift its box 12 feet into the air to deliver materials to roofs or second stories or to catch debris from a rooftop or second story window.

The Equipter 4000 is a versatile piece of equipment that can be used in industries as broad as roofing, remodeling, construction and demolition. The American-made Equipter is in high demand coast to coast and second-hand models typically retain 80% of their value after five years of use. When you consider these types of trailers, their potential and their resale value, the Equipter 4000 makes a strong case.

Understand tax code changes to help your equipment purchase planning and ensure your money goes further when investing in company equipment.

U.S. tax regulations are constantly changing, and as a business owner, it is important to understand how they affect your equipment purchases. Equipter explores changes to Section 179 to show you the implications of these tax provisions, and how investing in the proper equipment through strategic financial decisions can significantly impact the bottom line of your roofing business.

In the United States, Section 179 is a part of the tax code that allows businesses to deduct the purchase price of qualifying pieces of equipment during a tax year, encouraging businesses to invest in themselves with tax incentives and grow their business. In 2023, the total equipment purchase limit was raised to $2.89M, up from $2.7M in 2022.

However, bonus depreciation, which generally kicks in after the Section 179 cap has been met for businesses, will phase down beginning in 2023. In 2023, only 80% of the cost of a new piece of equipment can be immediately depreciated with the rest being depreciated over the next seven years. In 2024, this bonus depreciation level will drop to 60% and it will fall by twenty percentage points until 2027 when bonus depreciation will go away entirely. What this means for businesses is that their money will go much further this year compared to the immediate bonus depreciation value in the coming years.

Equipter recently sat down with Kyle Beltle, CPA from Kauffman CPA Company to talk through how Section 179 and bonus depreciation can benefit your business. View the video below or watch it on YouTube.

The benefits of the Equipter 4000 are widely known throughout the roofing, construction, and renovation industries. One piece of financial information worth considering when you think about where to spend your money is how well the Equipter holds its value, year after year, as compared to comparable pieces of construction equipment and work vehicles. Equipters that have been in service for five years rarely trade hands for less than 80% of their original price tag, a phenomenal statistic considering how much use you will get out of the Equipter in that span of time. Unlike other heavy equipment manufacturers, as of the writing of this article, the Equipter has a short lead time and can be delivered and put into service before the end of the year.

For more information on Section 179, and its depreciation and amortization tables on IRS Form 4562, you should consult with your accountant or a tax professional.
