Choosing the right metal roofing tools for your toolbox!

Malco Choosing the Right Metal Tools
April 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Which tools are essential to have at the ready when you’re a metal roofer? Find out the four qualities the experts recommend for each tool.

In a recent MetalTalk™ webinar, “The Seven Metal Roofing Tools,” host Karen Edwards sat down with Jon R. Olson of Malco Tools to discuss the top must-have metal tools every metal professional needs in their arsenal. The two broke down the purposes behind seven of the most important metal tools and how contractors can use them to their advantage out in the field.

As the product training manager at Malco, Jon has become quite an expert when it comes to finding the right metal tools and materials for his customers. Each trade profession has a number of necessary tools in their toolbox that are essential to getting their job done safely and efficiently. When it comes to determining which tools make the cut, metal professionals should look at these four qualities and how the tool performs in each area: safety, performance, quality and demand.

These four core factors should serve as checkmarks any product should meet, especially tools that professionals intend to invest in and use for a considerable amount of time. Jon shared, “Safety is top of mind for anybody that's out on the job site. Not only is it a cost of business in terms of liability, but tools that are proven safe provide peace of mind, too.  Quality tools also provide safe solutions that are going to respect the force that your hand can produce. Making sure that the proper details are created is a great piece of performance that everybody expects out of their tools.”

“We strive to make sure that we produce high-quality tools that are consistent. You’re getting the same tool every time, so people know that when they get a Malco tool, they’re getting exactly what they need when they need it,” he continued. By embracing the needs of their customers and ensuring that they continuously better their product creation process to be as consistent as possible, Malco has created a line of products that contractors can trust for decades to come, no matter how many tools they end up going through over the years, they’ll be the same quality.

When installing metal roofing or working with metal materials, metal professionals can have peace of mind that, with these tools at their disposal, just about any job can be done properly and safely!

So, which seven tools make Karen and Jon’s must-have list? Read the transcript, Listen to the conversation or Watch the webinar to find out the seven must-have tools for metal professionals!
