For those looking to use metal deck for flooring, there are two types of panels – form deck and composite deck. Composite deck panels are recognizable in that they have distinct, embossed patterns on each panel compared to form deck. Composite deck also comes in a prime painted or galvanized finish.  

Though used in different applications, both floor deck and roof deck are considered important parts of the steel structure of a building, and can be defined by their type, gauge and finish. For contractors and laborers working with metal decks, these categorical types vary depending on project type and preference.
