Introducing the Heroes Havens program!

CDG Heroes Haven Program
May 18, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

A new initiative from Habitat for Humanity is keeping veterans under safe roofs.

Heroes Havens is a new program that gives back to the veterans who have given so much to protect our country. The initiative is spearheaded Habitat for Humanity in Transylvania County, Brevard, North Carolina. But it would not be possible without partnering with companies, big and small, that share the vision of supporting veterans. Angie Hunter, the executive director of Transylvania Habitat for Humanity, explained to Transylvania Times, “Our partners share our commitment to giving back to those who have served our country with honor and distinction, allowing us to extend our reach and impact.”

The program helps veterans by providing a variety of critical home repairs, however there is an emphasis on roof repairs and replacements. There is a priority on those with the most critical needs that cannot afford the repairs on their own. Angie explained the financials of the program, “Thanks to the generous support and partnerships with several local and national companies, we are able to offer these services at no cost to low-income veteran homeowners.”

For veterans looking for that extra bit of support, the Heroes Havens program is a great option. Those interested must demonstrate their veteran status and meet other criteria as determined by the Transylvania Habitat for Humanity. Angie and her team encourage those in need of roof repairs or replacements to reach out as soon as possible. They wish they could take on every roof revival project that crosses their path, but unfortunately the availability of services is limited.

Ultimately, the goal is to expand the program through community support, both in volunteer hours and financial donations, so that every veteran has access to the roof repairs they need to be safe and comfortable at home. Angie elaborated, “Anchored by the unwavering support of our volunteers, donors and community partners, Transylvania Habitat for Humanity is committed to driving substantial and lasting change.”

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
