The expertise of the employees and willingness to help in any way is what keeps this roofer coming back to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards.

In business for more than four decades, White Castle Roofing services Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota and Iowa. Taylor Simpson serves as the company’s senior roofing consultant and entered the company’s winning project in this year’s “Show Us Our Snow Guards” Contest sponsored by Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. The Nebraska home uses dark bronze RG 10 snow guards and S-5!®  ColorGard® with S-5!® E clamps and dark bronze color strips on a striking DaVinci® Slate and standing seam metal roof.

How long have you been in the roofing industry and how did you get started?

I’ve been in the roofing industry and at White Castle Roofing for 12 years. My first role was taking photos with a large digital camera for our quality control inspections after each completed roof. That’s before there was an app for that! I moved to residential sales after a large hailstorm in my area and became obsessed with learning about the insurance claim process, exterior materials and providing my customers with the utmost service and expertise.

My role has evolved into commercial roofing sales where I’ve been able to expand my knowledge of roofing systems and assemblies. I love the company and people I work for and am grateful to have made this my career.

Tell us about the geography you install roofing in and what kind of snow retention systems are needed for your customers.

We work primarily in Nebraska, Colorado and Iowa. As any from the Midwest knows, winters can bring significant snow loads and high winds. Whenever we install a composite shingle or metal panels, we go with the suggested Rocky Mountain Snow Guards product and layout. Lots of customers are not aware that they need them until a snowslide wrecks their gutters or worse.

What type of roofing material do you tend to install most, and when do you find yourself installing snow retention systems?

In residential work, we install lots of asphalt and composite roofing. We get calls from newly-installed composite shingle or metal roof owners after large snow events that caused damage due to not having snow retention. Most of our projects are retrofitting snow retention products on existing roof systems.

What’s the most challenging roofing project you’ve ever done where a snow retention system was involved?

One of our most rewarding recent projects was the Hansen residence, which won us the Runner Up prize in the 2025 “Show Us Our Snow Guards” Contest. The challenge was balancing aesthetics with function. We had to make sure the snow guards on both the composite slate and standing seam metal materials complemented each other visually, while still providing the right protection for each surface.

How often do you use the free snow retention plan services from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards when you’re working on a roofing project?

We use the free plan service whenever we’re working on a project that requires snow retention. It’s a valuable resource because it ensures product placement and quantity are optimized for the roof’s pitch, layout, and climate conditions. The design layouts that Rocky Mountain Snow Guards provides allow us to show the customer where and why the snow guards will be installed.

What keeps your company coming back to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards for your snow retention needs?

The expertise of the employees and willingness to help in any way is what keeps us coming back to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. We know their products will perform season after season and will keep our customers safe and satisfied.
