Using visualization to generate more leads

Renoworks Using Visualization
January 31, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Visualization has been a part of the industry for years, but new developments mean it is more powerful than ever.

In Season 1, Episode 19 of MetalCast, Brad Finck, Renoworks’ senior vice president, spoke to Heidi J. Ellsworth about the power of visualization in the roofing industry. Brad has worked in the construction software industry for around 30 years and has seen how visualization has shifted and developed over time. He explained, “We've been doing visualization for many years, but we've seen rapid change in the way it's being used and a rapid adoption of technology over the last two to three years.”

Historically, visualization has taken many forms. Brad explained, “People have been using project boards, they've been using sample boards to show what products are going to look like.” At Renoworks, they have been developing a technological approach for years, Brad described how they “developed a desktop Windows app, and then over the last 20 years that evolved into the online tool you see today.” This tool allows contractors to build mockups on their websites to advertise and offers customers a way to upload a photo of their own home and see how the different products will look like. This combination allows contractors to generate more leads by attracting customers and making the pitch process more efficient.

This helps both the contractors and the homeowners by creating more transparent communication and setting projects up for success from the beginning. Brad elaborated, “Contractors can capture a lead of that homeowner and see exactly what that consumer is picking as far as product selections, colors and profiles to give them better insight into what the homeowner's interested in.” One of the impressive, more recent developments is the ability for Renoworks programs to do 3D modeling through working with aerial imagery companies such as EagleView. Brad explained, "Someone not only can look at a photo of their home, but they can take a 3D model of their home spinning around. Then the contractor can see the ridges, valleys and complexities of the roof are going to look like with exact measurements.”
