How full-system metal packages are changing the game

How full-system metal packages are changing the game
October 25, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Manufacturers and distributors are racing to offer job-ready metal kits and reshape how contractors build.

In this episode of MetalCast™, hosted by Heidi J. Ellsworth, a major industry shift came into focus: the growing demand for complete, prefabricated metal roofing and siding packages. According to Paul Trombitas of FMI Research, this trend is redefining how projects are executed across the country.

This shift toward job-ready bundles, often referred to as job packs, includes everything a contractor needs: metal panels, fasteners, underlayment and accessories, all delivered together. That all-in-one approach is streamlining job sites and helping contractors address long-standing pain points, particularly around training and labor shortages. As Paul explains, “Being able to provide the full system is certainly something we’re seeing a trend more towards in a lot of building products, having that full system installation package. It helps with the training and education familiarity. You have the one point of contact that you’re able to address and more effectively capture what you need for those projects.”

That streamlined approach is helping more contractors, especially those newer to metal, adopt it more easily and compete effectively. With job packs offering a simplified, all-in-one system, companies are gaining a competitive edge. As Paul noted, “Being able to provide that just is another value added for end users. It’s not sourcing from multiple different companies.”

As more contractors look for ways to simplify operations and stand out in a competitive market, suppliers are stepping up with smarter solutions. That focus is now driving innovation not just in product development, but in how materials are packaged, delivered and supported. The goal across the board is to eliminate complexity and give contractors everything they need to get started, all in one shipment.
