Innovation with female perspectives in metal roofing

Innovation with female perspectives in metal roofing
April 4, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.

MCS Influencer Robert Tiffin and special guest Maggie Christensen say women are breaking barriers and driving innovation in the evolving world of metal construction!

Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with MCS Influencer Robert Tiffin and Maggie Christensen. You can read the interview below or watch the recording.

Robert Tiffin: I'd like to introduce my friend and peer, Maggie Christensen. Afternoon. Maggie, how are you?

Maggie Christensen: Hi, Robert. I'm doing very well. How are you?

Robert Tiffin: Fabulous. Thank you. I'd like to ask you two questions. The first one is, how have women influenced the metal industry overall?

Maggie Christensen: Well, women have made significant contributions to the metal building industry by bringing fresh perspectives, innovative problem solving and strong leadership skills. And women have been instrumental in breaking barriers and redefining what it means to work in this industry, whether it's adaptability and precision from meticulous planning, creative problem solving and collaboration, which are crucial for construction projects to diverse perspectives and viewpoints to project management, safety innovations and customer relationships.

Robert Tiffin: Oh, fabulous. And the second question, why should women consider careers in metal construction?

Maggie Christensen: Oh, well, now this is my favorite question. The industry offers high paying, stable jobs with room for advancement from welding and fabrication to project management and engineering. I mean, who wouldn't want to be part of breaking those stereotypes? The metal building industry is evolving and women are uniquely positioned to drive this transformation, and I'm really happy to be a woman in construction.

Robert Tiffin: Perfect. So what it sounds like is that not just March, but every month should be women in construction month. Would you agree?

Maggie Christensen: Yeah, I think so.

Robert Tiffin: And I am remiss, I did not give you a chance to introduce yourself and what you do for a living. Would you like to go ahead?

Maggie Christensen: Oh, I do appreciate that. I'm Maggie Christensen. I'm the vice president of business development and strategic accounts for BRUCHA.

Robert Tiffin: Beautiful, Maggie, always a pleasure. Thank you for your input and have yourself a great rest of the day.

Maggie Christensen: Thank you. You as well.

Robert Tiffin is the president of the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association. Read his full bio here.
