Meet Jason Wendt, Winner of a Case of Geocel Phantom™ Metal Roof Sealant

Jason Wendt Geocel winner

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS COO.

The sealant was the perfect prize for this sheet metal superintendent.

We love giveaways at the Coffee Shop and we try to always feature our winners. I was delighted to spend some time on the phone with Jason Wendt, a recent winner of a case of Geocel Phantom Metal Sealant from our friends at Sherwin-Williams.

Jason received his sealant and turned it over to the install crews to give it a go. “I had the guys use it but I tried some this morning and I liked it,” said Jason. He was familiar with Sherwin-Williams’ 2300 sealant but this was his first time trying the Geocel Phantom. “I tried it on several different colors of metal, and it matches well.”

Finding the right match of color is no problem with Geocel because the six translucent, customizable colors let the panel colors shine through. They eliminate the need to bring multiple colors to the jobsite and transform to match the color that it is being applied to.

As a sheet metal superintendent at McKinnis Roofing, Jason understands the importance of products that leave an eye-pleasing finish and also perform. He knows a lot about metal having worked for McKinnis Roofing since he was 16 years old. He started as a gutter installer and worked his way up into other roles, eventually being drawn toward sheet metal.

Jason shared that he spends more time in the shop now that he is older but really liked working outdoors when he got into the business. “When I started, what I liked was that every job was different. It wasn’t the same every day and I wasn’t in the office every day.”

He learned about RoofersCoffeeShop® when he was at METALCON and visited with our crew members. He decided to check out the site and while he was there, entered to win the case. One of his favorite things on the Coffee Shop is the roofing galleries.

When Jason is not at work, he enjoys tackling DIY projects and is currently working on a bathroom remodel. He enjoys gardening and also spends a lot of time at his children’s sporting events.
