The season of giving

The season of giving
December 22, 2025 at 6:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

As the year comes to a close, we are all looking for ways to give back to our communities. Here’s how some roofing companies are sharing the love!

December is a busy time of year for most people. With holidays like Kwanzaa, Christmas, solstice and Hannukah there’s a lot to keep up with. And even if you don’t celebrate anything this month, getting ready for the new year is plenty to keep you busy. But, even with the busyness of the season, there are people who take the time to give back and make sure all members of their community are safe and sound. Here are three stories we heard about roofers who were doing just that.

1 - A new roof in time for the new year

Our first story of December kindness comes from Madison, Ohio, where a community partnership between Habitat for Humanity, Owens Corning and local roofer Home Genius Exteriors gifted Allan Endelmann a new roof!

Allan is an 80-year-old Navy veteran with physical disabilities that make everyday tasks, like maintaining the home, nearly impossible. As a result, his roof, which was over 30 years old, was in desperate need of a replacement as leaks and water damage had become severe.

When Tim Dunphy, Home Genius Exteriors’ chief growth officer heard about Allan, he knew they had to help. He told Cleveland 19, “My father is a veteran, and so are a number of people in the company. Veterans give a lot more than they get credit for. To be able to show a small gratitude for the service they’ve given is really a no-brainer for us.”

With the completion of Allan’s roof, Home Genius Exteriors has now replaced 22 roofs for community members (the majority veterans) at no cost!

2 - You get a tree, you get a tree, you get a tree!

Our next story takes us over to Oklahoma. Kayden Price and Sean English, the co-owners of All Performance Roofing and Restorations, try to find a way to bring joy to their community every year. Kayden shared why this is so important part to them and their team with Newson6.com, saying, “We wanted to make a company that’s for families that need help, where we can go in, pay attention to people, see what their situation is and help them out.”

In the past they’ve worked towards this mission with TV giveaways and free tarps for families in need. This year, it was trees. Sean explained, “There have been times where I couldn’t afford a tree or have the Christmas I wanted. [So] when I came [to Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm with my family], I was thinking, what would it be like to bless a couple of people? We know the economy is tough right now.”

What it looked like was better than Kayden or Sean could’ve imagined. One family that was selected for a tree, the McBrides, shared their gratitude, saying, “We [were looking at] another tree, but this one I wanted [the kids] to be able to decorate themselves and have that Christmas magic.”

3 - Beyond the roof

And for our last story of this article, we head to Harris Country, Texas where local roofers Clayton Townsend and David Sanchez hit the streets to help their community after two tornadoes hit right before Thanksgiving.

The story starts with Clayton and fellow roofers in the area tarping 35 roofs and clearing 25 trees for free for the community. But they didn’t stop there. Through a partnership with Church Project Tomball and Honor Society Coffee Co. they made Thanksgiving dinner bags for local residents. Clayton shared a bit about the bags with Click2Houston.com, saying, “We’re giving them stuffing, potatoes, you got everything to make casserole, all the fixings, chicken, sweet potatoes. We even got them $25 gift cards to HEB so they can go and get a turkey.”

It might not be a lot on paper, but the kindness and thought behind it meant everything to those receiving it. One recipient, Karrie Colson, shared, “I’m trying not to cry right now, it’s very sweet. [We’re already so] lucky nobody was hurt [and now this,] I appreciate it so much.”

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
