Women leading the metal industry

MCSI Emily Marshall Feb 2026
April 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.

MCS Influencer Emily Marshall says now is the perfect time for women to step into leadership in the trades, specifically metal roofing.

Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with Emily Marshall of Mr. and Mrs. Post Frame. You can Read the interview below, Listen to the podcast or Watch the recording.

Jenny Yu: Hello, everyone. My name is Jenny Yu with a MetalCoffeeShop® Influencer Response for the month of February. I'm here with Emily Marshall, also known as Mrs. Postframe. How are you today, Emily?

Emily Marshall: Doing well. Thanks for having me, Jenny.

Jenny Yu: Thank you so much for being with us. So, this month we are talking about the role of women in roofing and specifically recruiting and retaining women in the field and in office roles as well as how men can be allies for advancing women in roles of leadership. Can you share your thoughts on those?

Emily Marshall: Absolutely. I'd be happy to talk about that. As we all know, the trade industry has everybody talking about how they're experiencing a crisis in not enough people entering the trades, and I think this is presenting a really great opportunity for women. We are not historically known as being anything more than maybe the office person or some role like that that's very supportive, and I think this is an opportunity to partner with our male counterparts and be able to step into leadership in the trades, specifically in metal roofing.

Of course, we're talking about how women can find themselves able to have their own roofing business by working with male allies who, I don't know about you, but I work with a lot of men who want to be out in the field. They want to be doing things. They want to be working with their hands. They don't really want to be dealing with all of the running of the business side of things. And so, I think that is where, if you have a woman like myself who prides herself on being very organized, very project management oriented, you can really capitalize on that. You can find a fulfilling career by being in the roofing industry, specifically metal roofing, and using your skills to run a great business.

Jenny Yu: Amazing. Thank you so much. As you mentioned, it's so important to have women like you pushing the field, opening more doors for women in our industry. So thank you for your response.

Emily Marshall: Yeah, absolutely.

Paul and Emily Marshall are Mr. and Mrs. Post Frame. Read their full bio here.
