Two and a half years in and still standing strong

Two and a half years in and still standing strong

Industry expert shares how installing Unified Steel products helped keep his home secure.

When it comes to finding a durable and high-performance roofing product, getting actual homeowner feedback compared to only seeing a sales sheer makes all the difference. In fact, customer testimonials can tell you a lot about a product’s quality and durability. . While at the 2025 International Builders Show, Heidi J. Ellsworth sats down with Jason Lamers for a quick interview. Jason is the director of sales in the Eastern U.S. for Westlake Royal Building Products and has a Westlake Unified Steel roof on his own home.

Jason shared, “A couple years ago there was a hailstorm and my personal home needed a new roof. Working here at Westlake, I knew about the Unified Steel Product and chose to utilize it on my own house.” Unified Steel is a lightweight roofing solution that Westlake developed as a durable and high-performance option for homeowners. It is backed by one of the “most comprehensive, fully transferable roofing warranties in the business today” and comes in a variety of profiles to suit any home.

But the benefits don’t just stop there. Jason shared that one of the biggest benefits he personally experienced after reroofing with the material was energy savings. He explained, “I worked with our marketing department at Westlake and installed temperature probes in my attic. I watched my attic temperatures drop by between 35-45 degrees depending on the time of day after I reroofed.” He then compared his gas and kilowatt hours usage on his energy bills for the same period of time and found that he “reduced his usage of gas and electric by 18%.” In dollars, saving 18% meant saving $550 in Jason’s area. The cherry on top? Jason also saved another $450 on his insurance because he lowered his risk of future hail damage by choosing a product with a Class 4 Hail rating!

Today, over two years later, Jason couldn’t be more pleased with the performance of his personal roof and more excited to help other homeowners save like he did!

Watch the full interview to hear the rest of Jason’s story and to learn more about how Westlake’s Unified Steel saves people money while also securing their homes.
