Unsealing the building envelope

Unsealing the building envelope
February 20, 2025 at 6:00 a.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Tackle every angle of the building envelope with this transformative training program.

In an episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, host Karen Edwards sat down with Tom Biller and Sarah Fay of Tremco to discuss the emerging importance of implementing building envelope training for creating a successful business. Tremco University, a unique digital platform is designed to offer roofing and construction professionals training modules through interactive courses.

Tom and Sarah emphasized how important training programs like Tremco University are for more than just product installation skills, offering a variety of perspectives on topics such as how to create seamless, energy-efficient and watertight building envelopes. Through adapting these skills, industry professionals can better their service offerings and capture a larger, more profitable market share through quality service and recommendations.

Sarah emphasized what these online programs and advanced technologies can mean for educating building envelope specialists, making knowledge and skill more accessible and on-demand than ever before. She shared, “Training programs for the building envelope specialists are going to continue to evolve in exciting ways. We have technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, that can create these more immersive environments for hands-on practice, while also simulating real-world challenges without the risks of the real-world challenges. Artificial intelligence can really make sure that we're delivering personalized learning to people. We can tailor resources; we can tailor guidance based on the unique individual's need.”

Tremco University, they urged, is a program not to be missed, offering the key components to building an expert skill set and solutions to any challenge. Tom shared, “We're offering unique solutions to the industry, unique solutions to the market. So augmented reality is going to be an important part of that, helping them understand in that deeper way what we are talking to them about, how it's used in that rooftop or in the building envelope application. Many of the solutions offered by the construction product group are not me-too solutions, they're unique solutions that create and drive the market. Augmented reality and more in-depth training, it's going to be a definite key to the adoption of these solutions and very important to the specifier.”
