The Retro-R® Panel by MBCI is an excellent cost-efficient solution for your retrofitting needs.

MBCI’s Retro-R® Panel is a lightweight and cost-effective answer for all your retrofitting questions. The R-Panel is installed over the existing roof you are working on, and this offers a lot of advantages for your company: It cuts back on labor costs, it minimizes the potential of water entering the building and hence provides a safer working environment. Here is a breakdown of some of the benefits that the Retro-R® has to offer:

Cost-efficiency

The Retro-R® Panel saves time and money by eliminating the roof removal process. Since the product is installed on top of an existing roof, it causes very little disruption. If the project is for a business, this proves to be cost-effective for them as well, as they won’t have to shut down for renovations. Win-win!

Without the need to remove the roof or wall of the structure, the installation time is reduced significantly. Faster installation time means fewer labor costs. The exposed fastening system also requires fewer accessories. Fewer accessories mean fewer labor costs as well.

Installers may also be able to reuse trim from the original building when using Retro-R® panels for a retrofit and may not need to remove elements such as the rake, gutter or downspouts. On one project, Benny's Transmission in Texas, installers only took the ridge vents up and reused them, saving the building owner on materials and labor.

Site safety

Retro-R® Panels reduce jobsite risks by reducing installation time and personnel. When the product is tied off at the eave, it minimizes the risk of falling through if the original roof is not in place. Inspecting and evaluating existing roof panel/structure to ensure it can support new panels/live loads is key for safety.

Longevity

Retro-R® Panel is equipped with a Drip Stop membrane that helps to prevent rust from the existing roof or wall from transferring to the new panel, thus extending its life expectancy.

Coatings, color choices and energy efficiency

MBCI's Retro-R® roofing system is an excellent choice for retrofitting projects, with two sizes of Galvalume Plus® and Signature 200 colors to choose from. The Benny's Transmission project opted for the Galvalume Plus®, which comes with a 20-year warranty from MBCI. Even without additional insulation, the reflective properties of the Galvalume roof improved the energy efficiency of the building.
