Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with MCS Influencer Renee Ramey. You can read the interview below or listen to the podcast.
Alex Tolle: Hello, I'm Alex Tolle with metalcoffeeshop.com and I am back for another influencer response with Renee Ramey. So our August 2025 question is, what unique aspects of metal should contractors be sharing with customers to help grow metal construction sales?
Renee Ramey: That's a loaded question. There are so many reasons that metal roofing is better than alternative roofing options or materials. If I had to pick the ones I think are most interesting to homeowners as a contractor, I would say that the ease of maintenance is a big thing to push. A lot of the people that are putting roof on would love to know that this particular type of roof, a metal roof, requires very little maintenance. It's super easy to upkeep and I think that's a big plus.
Obviously things like weather performance too. So depending on where the contractor's located, using the performance of metal roofing in weather events such as hurricanes or wildfires, that speaks to consumers very strongly depending on where they're located, especially here of late with things going crazy in Mother Nature. In California, I would definitely highlight the resistance to wildfires and flying embers and things of that nature. So that's a big one.
Which kind of ties into durability. So I won't go into that too much. But the third one I would highlight would be the sustainability aspect of it. So, again, depending on where you're at, your customer base may not put a lot of weight on that, but there are regions where consumers want to know that they're utilizing a product that's made of recycled material and that can be recycled at the end of its life and hopefully they never have to worry about any of it because depending on the material you put on your roof, it could last 50 plus years and you may not even think about it again. Those are the top things that if I was a contractor, I would be sharing with homeowners - it's a one and done is what we like to say. If you get a quality metal roof, you do it one time and hopefully you don't touch it again.
Alex Tolle: Yeah, I think that's so important. It's just like the peace of mind.
Renee Ramey: It's a little bit more of an investment, but you just get that roof and you don't have to even worry about it. You just, you set up a maintenance plan and you're just set for the rest of your life.
Alex Tolle: Absolutely. Well, thank you so much as always, Renee and we will see you next month. Thank you.
