In the highly competitive roofing industry, a company’s values often determine how that company stands out. In this episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, Karen Edwards spoke with Brad Finck, senior vice president of business development of Renoworks, about how their company’s values guide their approach to contractor-focused solutions.
One of those values is “work like a farmer,” a mindset that recognizes the hard work of contractors’ day-to-day lives. “Being a contractor, like a farmer, takes long hours, a lot of time in the field and a lot of time away from home. Also, there is a limited amount of time to learn new technology,” Brad said. This mindset informs how Renoworks makes their products easy to learn and integrate into business operations. “Technology is one of those things that's got to be simple and easy, and everything that we do at Renoworks tries to initiate that mindset to produce the most efficient results that we can and make sure that the final solution is the best solution.”
Another similarity between construction and farming lies in how their methods have generally stayed the same throughout history. Where change does come into play is in the competitive landscape across the industry. “People need to figure out a way to become more efficient, close deals faster and make more money per project. That's where technology comes in,” Brad shared. “How do you set yourself apart from a contractor competitor who is using visualization technology or automated methods or lead nurturing? If you're not looking to some of these different technologies and new tools, you will end up falling behind at the end of the day.” Renoworks’ visualization and lead tools are just a couple of the ways that the technology helps contractors stay ahead of the curve.
Another core value at Renoworks is “adventure forward,” which encourages an inclination toward innovation and risk taking. “Everything is a risk. Having your own business is a risk; adopting technology is another risk,” Brad stated. The key is integration. “Look at what is the most efficient way to implement that into the systems that you're already using to minimize your downtime and get the maximum return on investment.”
With proper support, the payoffs are worth it. “With ‘adventure forward,’ there is risk, but if it's implemented properly — and that's what we're there to help you with — the rewards are quite substantial,” Brad expressed. “It can lead to better quality presentations, a higher quality lead and faster client product selection.”
