METALCON 2025 was one for the books – a week full of energy, innovation and community that reminded us why we love this industry. From the moment the doors opened, the show floor buzzed with excitement. For our crew representing MetalCoffeeShop®, it was an unforgettable few days filled with live interviews, inspiring stories and a shared passion for metal construction.
The show kicked off with Metal & Mimosas: “We heard from a wonderful speaker named Jennifer Wilkerson from the NCCER, who shared groundbreaking research about women in the trades,” Karen Edwards, The Coffee Shops™ COO, shared. “They did focus groups, gathered statistics and shared real stories from women in the field. The message was clear – we need to do better, and there are tangible ways to create a more supportive environment for women in the trades.”
For Jessica Bravo, our en Español program coordinator, attending her first METALCON, the morning set the tone for the entire event. “It was such a great experience! The session offered the opportunity to connect with incredible women in the industry,” she said.
Over all three days, attendees had countless opportunities to learn and engage. Jessica attended an all-women’s training event on day two with Michelle Kettering and John Sheridan of Sheridan Metal Resources, and the company hopes to expand its Training Zone even more next year.
The impressive barndominium build was another centerpiece of the event. “Probably the most impressive part of the show as the barndominium built right in the middle of the floor,” emphasized Heidi Ellsworth, president and CEO of The Coffee Shops. “We interviewed the architect, Stacy Lynn, owner of The Barndominium Company™, along with Derek from Scottsdale and several sponsors who donated materials and time to make it possible. The fact that this home will go to a veteran through Semper Fi & America’s Fund makes it even more special.”
That interview with Adam Bautz, a graduate of the Semper Fi & America’s Fund Apprenticeship, and Nancy Riley from METALCON, stood out for Zane Deluccie, our multimedia producer who was behind the laptop capturing content throughout the entire show. He shared, “Adam has an amazing story, and the interview felt so natural. It was an incredible spotlight on the importance of community in our industry.”
Our MetalCoffeeShop soundstage, sponsored by Sherwin-Williams and the MetalVue program, was busier than ever – right at the entrance to the show floor. We welcomed industry leaders, manufacturers and innovators, capturing the full spectrum of what’s happening in metal construction today.
Karen also co-hosted the speed networking event with industry friend and partner Fiona Maguire-O'Shea from S-5!®. “The networking even was a huge hit – people were so engaged that we had to keep telling them ‘time’s up!’ so we could rotate partners,” Karen shared.
METALCON continues to be a space where ideas turn into action, and we’re proud to be part of sharing those stories. Until next year, thank you to everyone who stopped by the soundstage, shared their insights and helped make METALCON 2025 an unforgettable experience.
