In a recent Read, Listen Watch (RLW®), “Grow With Metal, Win With Roofing Passport,” host Karen Edwards sat down with Junny Lee and Heather McGinnis of Sherwin-Williams' MetalVue program to discuss the boom in metal sales growth in recent years, and how metal experts can capitalize on this trend.
“At the residential level, metal is the most durable and resilient compared to more common materials on the market, right? So, what we’ve learned is that coated metal is a very good product to protect homes,” Junny shared. Already, he explained, metal is starting to capture around 20% of the market, and it is only continuing to grow. The major selling points of sustainability, energy efficiency and durability are such strong factors that, given the right resources, many contractors can utilize these benefits as major areas of focus when creating a sales pitch.
Getting contractors started with organizing and implementing these ideas into tangible results is what programs like Roofing Passport are all about. Through this program, Sherwin-Williams has stepped up to help contractors fill in the gaps and barriers that would otherwise prevent them from successfully entering the metal market. Roofing Passport takes these valuable nuggets of knowledge and makes them available to users in an approachable way.
“When we started [Roofing Passport], we identified things that would be detrimental for contractors in starting the process of selling metal and accurately navigating the bidding process... So, we developed a software that ingests a blueprint and does the math and measurements for you, creating an accurate estimate report for bidding,” Heather explained. “This even allows for streamlined project planning. They can easily run a report for every home on a street and prepare a bid for metal, ready to offer.”
And the best part? Roofing Passport is easy to utilize. Heather and Junny walked through a demonstration of running a report in the software, showcasing how the accurate measurement data collected from Eagleview, combined with their calculations, give users an incredibly accurate representation of what a project will cost. From uploading the estimate numbers, providing sales visuals and overall making the process faster, Roofing Passport is the ultimate tool for any contractor entering the metal market.
