MCS Influencer Renee Ramey says that quality craftsmanship and community connection are key to differentiating your business.

Editor's note: The following is a transcript of a conversation between Alex Tolle and Renee Ramey of the Metal Roofing Alliance. You can listen to the interview or read the transcript below.

Alex Tolle: Our September question is how can contractors remain competitive and differentiate themselves in a market experiencing significant mergers and acquisitions?

Renee Ramey: I'm great, that's a good question. Well, I think first and foremost, your level of service and the product that you're installing, know, positive word of mouth is the best marketing tool every company has. So to differentiate yourself, just making sure that you are installing quality metal roofing products and you're doing it in a quality way, meaning quality install, I think that's absolutely number one.

Number two would be making sure you're staying present in your local area. So being relevant and continuously in the face of the consumers, whether it be through social media, radio, know, supporting or sponsoring local events, et cetera. I think that goes a long way in just kind of showing your community support and your activeness and helps just highlight you as a company, your knowledge, your products, your projects, et cetera.

Alex Tolle: Yeah, absolutely. Being involved with the community means a ton to your customers. So it's a great one.

Renee Ramey: Yeah, yeah, I think it gives a level of confidence and trust just right out of the gate when somebody knows you're invested in the local area.

Alex Tolle: Yeah, absolutely. Well, thank you as always, Renee.

Renee Ramey: Yeah, happy to help.

Renee Ramey is the executive director of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA). Read her full bio here.
