In a recent Coffee Conversations® episode, Heidi J. Ellsworth hosted a panel with four industry experts to discuss METALCON 2025. For the past 30 years, METALCON has become the go-to platform to discover the cutting edge products, receive hands-on training, earn CEU credits and build powerful industry connections.
Judy Geller, vice president of trade shows for PSMJ Resources (a partner of METALCON) and tradeshow director for METALCON, stated, “What began as a niche industry gathering has evolved into a must-attend annual event for architects, builders, contractors, manufacturers, owners, developers, engineers — anybody who is shaping the built environment. And year after year, we've really worked hard to push the boundaries and show what can really be possible with metal.”
Lee Ann Slattery, sales support manager with ATAS International and vice chair of Metal Construction Association (MCA), has attended METALCON for about 20 years. MCA is another partner of METALCON and primarily promotes the use of metal for the commercial side of building design and construction. As a veteran attendee, Lee Ann shared what stands out about METALCON: “[METALCON] is one of my favorite events of the year. It sets itself apart because it really just focuses on metal.”
METALCON has put a particular focus on providing top-notch, best-in-industry education across multiple genres. Kalyn Burke, the onsite events director for METALCON, shared, “We have Florida contractor credits that we offer across the show. We're going to be offering more than 15 courses that will be Florida CILB approved this year in multiple different categories. So, if you need those, we're a one-stop shop for you. If you are an architect, we offer architect continuing education courses as well. It's really fantastic.”
One course Kalyn highlighted as a must-attend for this year’s METALCON is a case studies panel hosted by Renee Ramey, executive director of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting metal in the residential roofing industry and sponsor of Coffee Conversations®. The panel will included a group of contractors who will share their personal insights on how to grow a metal roofing business, how to navigate the current waters and what they are doing grow during these changing times.
“We do believe that people are a little more in tune and open to absorbing what is shared by peers than someone outside of what they're doing, telling them what they should be doing,” Renee elaborated. “We’re trying to bring more people into a comfort level with adding metal to their list of products or diving into a business of installing metal roofing after listening to these business owners — people who have done it and have found their way to success.”
Whether you’re an architect or a contractor wanting to learn about anything from recruitment to fire resilience, METALCON 2025 is going to have something for you. "When it comes to contractors and what they can learn, it's unlimited,” Kalyn added. “Whatever you want, we got it.”
